Couldn't be happier with staff and treatments

I LOVE my care team more than I can say. My doctor is the best, and all of the nurses and technicians who work with me are always warm and kind and informative and helpful. Even people in departments not health-related have treated me with kindness and efficiency, and with onvious concern for me as an individual human being. I trust this health system wholheartedly, and I'm grateful to everyone who has been working with me all these years.

My chart requires verification that seems overkill and annoying.

I feel confident that everyone knows exactly what they're doing, and they get me in and out as quickly as they can. I appreciate having Gundersen available to me.

Dr Shappell is one of the finest and her staff is excellent. I was glad to see her training new residents. The young checkout lady at the front desk was fabulous.

It is very problematic and frustrating trying to schedule follow up appointments. When told to return in a specific amount of time there usually is nothing available even though we are very flexible. So the receptionists are running back and forth to the technician or nurses trying to figure out how to get a patient in when needed. On last visit we had to make two separate appointments on same day for two different but related procedures. Since there was nothing available that could be made one following another, the best option was about an hour and a half wait between appointments. It must have been decided afterwords that both visits could be combined, so our first appointment was cancelled without our knowledge. We live a distance away so sat car for over an hour. I can understand how this could happen but we would have appreciated being notified. After many appointments it just seems like the "flow" in the reception area could use some help.

The nurses and Dr. SHAPPELL were very nice knowledgeable about preparing my eyes for injecting medicine and also for Dr. The experience was much better than I expected.

I met with the technician first. He was wonderful, very knowledgeable, and then I met with Dr. Shappell, and I really liked her. She was personable, caring, very knowledgeable in what she was discussing me. I liked the visual aids, and overall it was a wonderful experience.

I don't get along with digital systems, I hate them.

My chart is great but I find when I put a message in to my provider in the eye clinic, Iknow it's triaged by a tech but I was a bit taken aback when I realized, as doctor was leaving, she said nothing about the minor stroke I had reported thru My Chart ( 3 weeks prior to pre set appointment) noting minor change in vision as it occurred in occipital lobe. If that wasn't important enough to report to my doctor, what is? She was unaware but now I will get extra test next April.

Everyone was very caring to a person that has mobility problems. Thanks to the staff on 4th floor!!

I was disappointed with the length of time that it took to get this appointment, two months out as a follow up appointment.

Excellent doctor and so friendly. She explains everything so well and so I can understand.

As usual a professional, patient focused, knowledgeable, supportive, and caring medical experience, giving confidence in further treatment.

While I did not know this dr prior to this visit she did agree to accomodate my special needs of diluted n less betadine in the eye prior to injection. I had no issues post injection this visit which I was happy with. Thankyou to the pt advocacy dept for helping me navigate this concern to a good outcome w my eye injection team!

The Provider has to work better with the Tomah VAMC pharmacy as to what's available and what isn't. and train up on sending prescribtion to Tomah VAMC

It was my first visit as a patient to Gundersen Ophthalmology as a patient. From check in, rooming and visit with Dr. Shappell I was treated with kindness and respect and felt heard. Upcoming procedures were explained in detail and I feel confident going forward with surgery in the near future

I was a walk in sent over by my optometrist so I had to wait quite awhile. But once I got in everything went smoothly with little waiting time. Everyone was super nice and understanding.

I was quite surprised and uncomfortable when lights went out while alone! You may laugh, but I did not know they were motion lights.

I'm wondering why I was sent to la Crosse instead of Lancaster which would have saved me 140 miles and over 2 hours of driving time?

I have complete confidence with Dr. Shappel. (I wish I could say the same about insurance coverage of a drug she ordered (eye gtts) I am still waiting to see if they will cover a drug to help prevent glaucoma chances.

The nurse that administered a shot gave me the most painful experience by far in all the times I've gone for a shot in my eye.

Everyone was professional, friendly, and helpful. My only concern was that I was there for an eye appointment, missed seeing the sign that I was in valet parking and was instructed Twice I was in the wrong parking lot. The first man explained to me I had parked in the wrong area, I apologized as I did not see the sign and the second person was gruff and somewhat rude.

This doctor is super. So easy to communicate with and always a smile. Also very much like her assistant. This one was a very tall guy. Very knowledgeable and lots of patience with my husband who has very bad vision.

So far, it has all been good.

It's really too hard to tell beyond initial appointment how proficient the provider is. I'll know more after surgery. Then I'll be able to articulate a more concise and helpful recommendation.

I could have had another rinse of the eyes. I was much foggier then I have been in the past.

Dr Shappell does a very through explanation of what's going on with my eyes. As a retired RN , I am very pleased with her work ethic. I trust her very much.

I find the "CODE" that you receive via e-mail or text not convenient. I was told that I would only have to do that once a year which would be a relief. What happened to that situation???

Ophthalmology check in and check out our laborious. People wait in line too long. Not enough staffing to handle the need notice this on more than one occasion. Could sense other patients waiting had similar thoughts regarding this needs improvement.

I got a referral from the Ho-Chunk Nation and received a call from Gunderson the next day to set up my eye appointment. I had an appointment within 10 days. The appointment went well and I'm set for surgery next month.
